ru-aff u O O O O The purpose of Texas Association of Library Assistants has been to arouse and to encourage interest in librarianship as a profession: to give student library assistants opportunities for recognition and participation comparable to those given to students participation in other major school activitiesg to provide for interchange of experiences and ideasg to gain knowledge about the different kinds of library work connected with library service. The membership of the club includes all student library assistants. Their ac- tivities include local club with officers and club activities such as socials, promotion of purposes, participation in district work and state work. T.A,L.A. encourages students to run for offices on both district and state levels and to take part whenever asked on any program to gain public speak- ing and leadership experience. Club members have library lessons that help to determine the outstanding students. ! ?1 .1 rs wi: QD ' r Q .41 MEMBERS OF THE T. A. L. A. STAFF OFFICERS WM I , -.. We m qifx. At Boy-Girl State, boys and girls learn to value the Amer- ican way of life and its principles. One learns by doing. Boy-Girl State is the imag- inary 51st state of the Union and it functions as a real state. Boys and girls come to Austin from all over the state of Texas. These boys and girls work hard learning how to become leaders: however, all is not work. Recreation is provided in which every- one participates. At Boy-Girl State, one realizes.that it's in style to love his country and to care about its procedures.
