It's more than merely a book, it's a record, a history, and a memory of Borger High. A yearbook holds within its pages a part of each student that passes through its portals. It has a true meaning only to those who are a part of it. It is the sincere wish of the Borgan Staff that it may be of deep and lasting meaning to you. The Staff Edited and published by Students of Borger Senior High School, Borger, Texas. FQREWCRD From a small unattractive crevice opening into a cave to a splendid highly edified archway opening into a cathedral, the door has held a place of neces- sity and prominence, as well as of beauty in man's history. lt would be useless to build a room and not leave a doorway. The value of the common door to mankind could fill a book: but the door, important as it may be, is utterly useless without people to enter and exit through it. through them. Even though now some of these peo- ple are thousands of miles away they have left a part of themselves here within the walls of Borger High. Not one of them entered these doors and left without adding to their knowledge. Their moments spent here have been invaluable to them. Consid- ering these things we proudly dedicate the 1963 Borgan to all the people who shave entered, who are entering, and who will enter the doors of Borger High. From the time the doors of Borger High were first opened years ago thousands of people have walked . 1' ...war tv, , Jzv s 5 ' ill 7 5 1 1 . an '..- .',. ,t , ,: , A 1--Y.-1-.ax Qsugm qi fum. .5 -taxi, 2 . Candidates must meet high standards of character, citizenship, and scholarship. They must maintain a B average or above during their term of office. Officers should be concerned with the general welfare of the entire school. They act as a liaison group between students and faculty, encourage high standards of conduct in the student body, keep records of all money collected T CGLINCIL and spent by the Council, uphold school rules, give all students a voice in the activities of the group, and sponsor projects of constructive value. Representatives are chosen by the homerooms to report on the activities of the council and stimulate interest in planning projects. The council provides a forum for the expression of student opinion, a training ground for both leaders and followers, and opportunity for intelligent participation in school affairs, and a real-life situation whereby students learn to be good citizens. The Student Council also promotes an atmosphere of understanding and appreciation between students and faculty. The Student Council has many worthwhile projects. EDUCATIO FI E ARTS A1l the arts are brothers, each one is a light to the others. This statement by Voltaire holds a great depth of truth not only in the arts but in all areas of education. Fine arts as distinguished from the use- ful, mechanical or industrial arts are those which have to do with the production of the beautiful, of that which appeals to the taste and imagination. When any person has developed his sensations and emotions to the aesthetics of fine aft then he no longer lives in a dark , ugly and lonely world. To appreciate and enjoy or to like or dislike the arts is a personal privilege you can either share or hold deep within yourself. Thus we include art, music, the study of poetry, and a storehouse known as a library for fine arts in a school curriculum JOYCE B. CORY Speech, University of Nebraska, B. S. Degree.
