Knowles, our principal, for work above and beyond the call of duty, for achievement accomplished for the good of the school with complete disregard for personal welfare, for the patience and perseverance shown in time of stress, and the guidance which has set countless students on the right path. BOARD OF EDUCATION LOU I. ROBERTS President l WALTER DAVID IOHN H. LOFTIN Vice-president Secretary DON BAKER DR. W. G. STEPHENS 'I C. A. CRYER, SUPERINTENDENT Dear Friends: For when the last great Scorer comes to write against your name, he writes not how you won or lost but how you played the game. Boys and girls, when you read the above quotation do not think merely of sports. School is a game, and if you play it to the best of your ability don'i be worried about failure. Life is a game, the hardest and greatest of all: therefore, it must be played carefully and skillfully. Be patient: be kind: be cheerful: be good humored. Work hard, play hard: smile when the going is toughest, then you may await the final Scoring without fear or blame. CQCL. ' .J I 5 ,,k. -, . ' -at I 1 ,H . ..A, Q. . I ,si ' Ns. W? I. F. In looking over the history of this organi- zation, we note that many honors have been won by this group. Red and white uniformed boys and girls present a colorful picture whether playing and marching at the football games, boosting our enthusiasm at pep assem- blies, or participating in the monthly Victory Concerts. And those drum majors! They have succeeded in becoming artists in leading the band in march. Sixty-one members play in the band this year. Under the direction of Mr, Charles Marsh, this organization will continue its good work. OI Cl-EST! A The Modern Music Makers, the group providing us with lighter musical rhythms, was organized in 1942 under Mr. Newman's direction. That year they reached a high peak of popularity throughout the Pan- handle, playing for USO dances, school dances, and other entertain- ments. This fall they helped to launch the Borger High recreational program by playing at the All-School Party. The orchestra's 'boogie-woogien tunes also provided the main attraction at the yearly Annual assembly program. Membership this year included: Paul Post, Farris Lucas, Paul Riordan, Wayne Fahle, Charles Pirtle, Dennis Comer, Davis Retus, George Petropolous, Randy Nunneley, and Lecrecia Savage, soloist.
