Having hobbies such as skat ing, tennis, and kodakinfg, site his rapidly earned for herself numerous friends. MELVIN FLOEEF Mohawk is a snake-charmer from 'way back, since he collects snake oil as a hobby--as a area! athlete he has played both basketball ana football-durinq his time in school Melvin has been a member cf the Hobby Club, the Iunior Historian and Speech Clubs. BILL GETER A keen interest in sports, mainly football and basketball, together with a devoted feeling toward the weaker sex, make up this dashing halfback's carefree high school ca- reer. An all-round athlete, with a strong desire for friends, Bill does LOTIS GASTON Ducky has made quite a name for herself and BHS as a basketball player - lettered three years and was honored twice as allstouma- ment player. She has been active in the Big Sister Club, Drarnatics, and Home Maker Clubs--everyones proud of her. his utmost to fullfill his fancy. GLADYS EDWARDS With quiet efficiency, Gladys qoes about her daily schedule-she's just the opposite of the silly little girl who always makes a pest of her- self-excels in Home Ec, and has for four years made a valuable member oi the Home Maker Club and twice served on the program committee of her class-a priceless student. q. ' 1 CAMILLE EVANS Polly is another one cf those Pampa qirls who came to Berger- she made a welcome addition to the A 9' rep squad for two years-took over the important job cf ticket chairman 6: A for the tumor play last year-did lzer part in the Home M iker Club- has been a valiif,rl.le student and l an always cheerful classmate. HOMEH GARREH 'Bucks' a lad who really deserves hiss v credit. He made a swell center for the Bulldogs. Although ineligible part ct the time, he was always out for practice. Buck is a very enthu- siastic science student, taking all the math tauqnt in BHS. BETTY LGU GENTFY fa W' Blonde headed and ready for a good 4' time-active in the pep squad for X two years-regular attendant cf the ,lx J Iuriior Historian Club-a pretty qirl, ri pretty smile, and you have Betty X Lou. PRESTON GIFFORD When he's not indulainq in relatinq one of his pointless jokes, Preston thinks there's nothing like huntinq biq qarne fdearl-is a member of the Hobby Club, did a swell job in track '39, and in between plays and important part on the B squad bas- ketball team-more power to you.

MELVA lOYCE DOWELL Miss Dowell is a student that any school would be proud of-she has the peculiar trait of causing no one any trouble-enjoys being a member of the Popular Music Song Club-she's crazy about chemistry, but we're crazy about that black hair that blows around BHS. Al- though her friends call her Scat- terbrain, we could use a lot more like her. in gzii RAY CONNELLEY Witty, blond haired, Hay usually cheery countenance and a winning srriile ready to greet his friends. As freshman president, de- bate student, and, a fiery member of the basketball teani, he made on every corner and is a favcrife with the teachers. FRANCES COPELAND 'Srnokeyn is the smiling inspiration ot her class-showed her dramatic -ilility as Aunt Jesse in Eight Ccusins' -makes a very effective 'innufil salesman and a delightful gerson to know. She has worked on the Growl staff, been a capable ex- temporaneous speaker, Pres. and Vive Pres. of the lr. Historian Club, and a favorite in the band-you'll know her from her sales talk for the Annual.

X THEODORE GIKAS Little black-haired Teddy Gikas is our peppy drummer-boy-out standing member of the Band Club for four years-takes after Brother Johnny when tt comes to doing the goose step -besides being the sweetheart of all the freshman girls. QS' IAMES GOODWIN The glamour boy of the Diversified Occupation Class is now at your disposal. Blond, and blue-eyed Iames finds time enough from his part time occupation to make a vast supply of friends. BERTIA MAE IONES Here is Mickey whom, although she has attended other schools, we consider a part of BHS-when she is not collecting souvenirs of dif- ferent cities and towns, you might find her tuning up for her part in making our choral club outstanding -she has a world of friends, and a great personality. PATSY HASSELFIELD Pat not only adds to the scenery of the school with her story book looks, but also does her bit in her own quiet way to make our school more worth while -- the popular sophomore candidate for queen- president of the Home Ec Club- secretary-treasurer of the commer- cial club--and a prize member of the lr. Historians. MANN GREGG ln this corner we have the Mann who was in the district play and thus helped make the play place third - his laughable way has gained for him a host of friends. ALMA HARRIS Sneaky makes a hobby out of getting new friends-she is easily recognized by her red, red hair. Not only did she take top honors in the Latin essay contest, but also deserves praise for her part in the pep squad-found chemistry a wel- come pastime during this year. MAB EL HATCHER Mabel is a Sonja Henie on wheels, had rather skate than eat, has cheered those Bulldogs on for two years - secretary of Ir. Historian Club in '38-'39, Big Sister Club and debater in 1938-39. 'X '15 ur- Q. . 7' 'Uh LYLE HESS Heel, as he's called around school, is best known as the spir- ited pep leader he's proved to be -for two years he was active in the Latin Club, not to mention his time on the Growl staff-twice Vice President of the pep squad club-an always jolly good fel- low. Nu. fx- ns-X IAMES HOLCOMB Iames, in his position as president of his home room, has proved that his personality is the kind that cre- ates an attraction for friends-he very cleverly portrayed the Span- ish priest in the 39-40 Spanish play -took second place in the Latin contest held here and then did a first class lOb in the Latin play- did his part to make the Iunlor- Senior banquet play a success.
