VARSITY BASKETBALL X With not one player returning from last year's squad, coaches Hoehn and Borst had to build an entire new squad from boys who were on last year's j,V. squad and new cadets at B.M.l, Although the cadets ended the season with a 5 win. 15 loss record, the underclassmen of the team showed much promise for next yearis squad, George Baldanzi led the team in scoring, He showed the cadet corps that even a little fellow can get around those bigger ones and show them a thing or two. lack Shevillo was an outstanding guard on one side of the court and Bill McDade com- manded the other. Alternating at the for- ward positions were 'lim Mcllwain and Dick Smith, In the center position it was either Larry Lee or Nick Sottos. The reserves were Gene Studioso, Walt Swayze. Tony Carabelli and Ken Rickett. The cadets opened their season with a loss to a strong Penn Military Prep team but bounced back to win against Trenton jewish Community Center and our chiet' rival Admiral Farragut, They dropped the next three and then defeated Croydon Hall Academy, W'e lost the remaining games. However, several of these, especially the Washington's birthday game with Temple H. S. and the last game of the season with Bryn Athyn, were very closeg the former 58 to 65 and the latter 66 to 67, The team played hard and with good spirit through- out every gameg much credit goes to the coaches and the team for a fine job.
