VARSITY FCCTBALL Ten days before school opened, 15 candidates for football reported back for early practiceg some were new and some were oldg some later were dropped but these cadets formed the nucleus of the 1953 football squad. When school opened more reported for football but at no time did the coaches count on more than 25 and generally around 17 because of injuries. In the face of all this we can but admire the cadets who hung ong team spirit was the finest and each and every cadet did his part as best he could. The underclassmen of this squad will undoubtedly form the basis of next year's squad. Coaches Hoehn and Verdel trained the team in the Princeton type single wing formation. The captains were R. Harvey and McDade.
