But now if in asked the same question to twenty different people, you uld probably get twenty answers, most of which would be ed in with the word bicentennial. Since the term icentennial means the 200th birthday of the greatest buntry on Earth, it is used quite frequently when speaking of be Spirit of '76. iThe Spirit of 76, which was the driving force inherent in lr founding fathers, led to the development of the two most leaningful works of literature besides the Bible, upon which iey are based. We, as members of the Bicentennial Year Graduating Class of Borden High School, feel that we experienced something that no other graduating class will ever experience again. We had the privilege of graduating in 1976, the year that Americans everywhere will celebrate the 200th birthday of our country. America's Bicentennial year is a very special year. It is a time for Americans to recall the events of all the past years of our country's existence . Remembering our past, helps us to build for the future. This year is a time to reflect upon, not only our past achievements, but also our past mistakes. America has much to learn from its past. Our hope is that the Bicentennial celebrations will awaken the American people to their responsibilities. We would like to see a renewal of the spirit of achievement upon which this country was founded. Americans must continue striving to build a better world, not only for the present, but for future generations as well. M, Vm -.- MAT TA '; f
