She was also an honor roll student and belonged to the National Honor Society. During her Senior year Betty held many offices, in- cluding Band President, Senior Class Treasurer, Student Council Treasurer, and National Honor Society Secretary. DON FARABEE Don Farabee has worked very hard during his four years of high school and gained the respect and admiration of all. Don was a letter winner in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country and Track; and won the Most Valu- able Basketball Player Award in 1968 and the Basketball Sportsmanship Award in 1967. Seniors One activity during the year, which everyone looks forward to at Borden, is the basketball and volley- ball games between the faculty members and Seniors. It never fails that the faculty comes out ahead in every game! As you can see by the pictures, the faculty put forth much effort to win those games. Cross Country The Braves completed the 1967-68 Cross Country season with a record of eight wins and seven losses. Jim Green, Borden's top runner, won the Dixie -Monon Conference for the sec- ond straight year. His victory also marked the third straight season that a Borden runner has won the confer- ence meet. Coach - Jr. High Coach - LARRY JOHNSON EUGENE STINSON JOE THOMPSON Hardwood Highlights The Braves opened the 1967-68 season by traveling to Vevay, where they defeated Patriot 92 to 55 with five players scoring in double figures. Borden then lost it's first game, a one point loss to conference-opponent Medora. Borden went on to win it's next two games in overtimes over North Central and rival New Washington. Borden then lost it's next 5 games. The Braves got back on the winning trail by defeating Deputy in the consolation game of the Henryville Tourney 62-60. Coach Johnson's squad then went on to down Lanesville but lost to a tall Crothersville squad. Borden went on a four game winning streak by defeating Clearspring, Marengo, Deputy, and Henryville before losing to Morgan Twp. The Braves then traveled to Fayetteville, lost a high scoring 110-89 contest, and then lost it's last two games of the season. Borden drew New Albany in the Jeffersonville Sectional. Although New Albany was highly favored, a fired up Borden team gave New Albany a close game for three quar- ters. Three of the Brave statters fouled out of the game which allowed New Albany to sprint to a 73-58 final margin. The Braves rolled up a score of 108 compared to 37 for Shaws- wick and 8 for Tunnelton. Coach Johnson's squad then lost dual meets to Pekin and North Central. The team came back to win their next three meets, including two over Me dora. The Braves placed fourth in the Dixie-Monon Conference Meet at Austin. Two con- ference records were broken by Borden trackmen, Jim Green in the mile run and Paul Stumler in the low hurdles. There were also four school records broken. Paul Stumler broke both hurdle records and Jim Green set a new time in the half mile. John Ever- age established a new season record for points scored with a total of 105.
