In Appreciation It has been my good fortune to have been associated with Vernis McKinley very closely since 1926. I have known him both as a high school student and as a township school official. Throughout all these years. he has been very enthusiastic in improving the educa- tional facilities of Wood Township. To- day, the youngzpeople of Wood Township owe him a great debt of gratitude for the fine educational facilities that exist in their community. William E. Wilson State Superintendent of Public Instruction MR. VERN IS McKINLEY We use this means to express our appreciation to Vernis McKinley who completed his fourth term as trustee of Wood Township on December 31, 1962. He took office for his first term as trustee on January 1, 1943, when our country was in the middle of World War II, and completed two four year terms, ending on December 31, 1950. He served two more terms between the period January 1, 1955 and December 31, 1962. The complete school facilities, which include the cafeteria. gymnasium, and elementary and high school buildings, were constructed during Mr. McKinley's term of office. Certainly we can look at our school facilities with pride, knowing that our community is now a more desirable place in which to live and rear a family. The construction of these buildings was financed by bond sales to the State of Indiana and by borrowing of Veterans Memorial funds which resulted in a great savings to the taxpayers of Wood Township. We express .our thanks and best wishes to Mr. McKinley with the hope that Wood Township will grow in the future as it has in the past. R. L. Allen Superintendent N.?i LAM, ' I
