A fall work- shop sponsored by the Western Regional Leadership Conference in the mile high city saw a bus full of Borah members in attendance Mr. Bruce Schlopack, adviser attended with the students. Tasty food sold from a gaily fes- tooned booth at the Western Idaho State Fair enabled DECCA mem- bers to earn money for important projects. Mrs. Louise Jones, past presi- dent ot the Idaho Education Asso- ciation, recently of New Meadows joined the Business and English Departments. Miss Ann Kurdy Borah graduate and one-year Borah English teacher, taught typ- ing to students in the rapidly grow- ing business classes. Freshly decorated rooms enhanced by subdued red draw drapes, invited students to enjoy the red carpeted treatment. Indi- vidually packaged typing units encouraged learners to progress at their own rates. MTS. Artists sold jewelry and other art works in the first Gift-a-rama and Winter Wonderland at the Idaho State Fairgrounds. Visiting Placerville in the once gold-rich Boise Basin enabled painters to capture the inimitable fall color of golden aspens against the green pines under an incomparable blue sky, fluffy cloud panorama. Gallery viewing in Portland and hanging works in the high school art show in Caldwell filled the spring months for art class members. Competing in cross country and field hockey kept the Girls' Athletic Depart- ment active during the fall. The powderputters compiled a 1-1 record tor their football season with a win over Capital and a loss to Bishop Kelley. Borah girls competed in league and district tournaments in volleyball and basketball. The gymnastic team went against Boise and Capital in intercity meets. Hard at play were the folk dance classes, followed by work on motor ability skills and competition in recreational games. The track team competed in district, regional, and state meets. The swim team kept in shape by swim- ming against Bishop Kelley, Boise, and Capital swimmers. Lifetime sports students excelled in bowling and skiing, with Bogus Basin only 15 miles away. The Borah gym andweight room resounded with ping pong balls and badminton games. Boys' P.E. classes worked outside until winter's icy breath drove them inside.
