Mrs. Beverly Fluudg Practical Math, Geometry Miss Kathryn Spain, Algebra, Geometry Mr. Charles Vaukg Algebra, Geometry Mr. Dennis Wilde, Algebra, Geometry Spotting a lazuli bunting bird along the ditch just south of Borah was a highlight for Practical Biology classes. Later in the year students travelled to the Malheur Bird Refuge near Burns where they spotted the rare Whistler swans. Helping with bird banding at Lake Lowell Wildlife Refuge afforded young biologists an opportunity to learn bird management in this area. Growing the comparatively rare ama- ryllis in the Horticulture class enhanced Thanksgiving decor for green-thumbed students. Mr. Leatham directed the col- orlul spring and fall plantings on the school grounds. New to the Math Department were Mrs. Rudd and Mr. Purdy. Seven advanced math classes helped students prepare for further math experience, Two semester credits in math are required for graduation. Most students meet this requirement in junior high school. But math is a popular elective.

A fall work- shop sponsored by the Western Regional Leadership Conference in the mile high city saw a bus full of Borah members in attendance Mr. Bruce Schlopack, adviser attended with the students. Tasty food sold from a gaily fes- tooned booth at the Western Idaho State Fair enabled DECCA mem- bers to earn money for important projects. Mrs. Louise Jones, past presi- dent ot the Idaho Education Asso- ciation, recently of New Meadows joined the Business and English Departments. Miss Ann Kurdy Borah graduate and one-year Borah English teacher, taught typ- ing to students in the rapidly grow- ing business classes. Freshly decorated rooms enhanced by subdued red draw drapes, invited students to enjoy the red carpeted treatment. Indi- vidually packaged typing units encouraged learners to progress at their own rates. MTS.
