lhstory Wxth 1nsecure steps and exc1ted hearts seventy four students entered the Freshmen class in September 1956 We had hlgh ambztlons and wonderful plans for the year but soon found out it was easier said than done Our homeroom teachers were Mr Glllesple Mr Dennehy and Mr Walker With Garnett Hobson as our presxdent we as freshmen, started on our h1gh school career Other officers were Dawn Hobson secretary Tommy Lawrence vice pres1dent and Edward Dans treasurer Withan enrollment of sixty two we entered the Sopho more class under the d1rect1on of Mrs Coram and Mr Stanley Th1s year was the usual hlgh school pattern Off1cersfor th1s year were Tommy Lawrence pres1dent Judy Cl1ne secretary W G St1nson v1ce pres1dent and Edward Davls, treasurer By the timewe were Juniors there were only f1fty eight members ofour class One of the hlghhghts of our Jun1or year was our play Introducmg Susan dlrected by Mr Meyers After much hard work the Jun1ors were reward ed 1n presenting a very successful play The most out stand1ngfeatureof our Jun1or year was our Jumor-Senxor Banquet and especxally our Prom whxch was a Boonv1lle High School flrst For our theme we used Southern Plantat1on Mlss Betty Jo Webb was elected our Home commg Queen Carolyn Balty received the Most Valu able Player award in the Yadkln County Tournament Mable Steele Martha Reece Carolyn Baity and Garnett Hobson were named All County players Miss Beulah Reece and Mrs An1ta Reece were our homeroom teachers OurJun1or class off1cers were Tommy Lawrence presl pres1dent a.ndW G Stmson treasurer Under the guldance of Mlss Day and Mr Meyers fxfty three students started on then- Sen1or year Early 1n the fall we recelved our class r1ngs wh1ch gave us a feelmg of sen1or1ty Several of our members were leaders on the Student Counc1l and Annual Staff We elected Charlene Wiseman and Ph1l Vestal for our mascots Mxss Sue Reece was elected Homecoming Queen Edward Dav1s relgned as Mr Boonv1lle Hlgh We were lookmg for ward to our trip to Washington and New York in the sprmg very much We elected J1mmy Walker pres1dent Brenda Hobson, secretary treasurer and Rockie Lineberry vice president for our officers As our high school days at BHS come to a close we look back over the four wonderful years wlth a feeling of happl ness and yet,we are also a lxttle sad We leave BHS with high hopes for the future and the desire to be a cred1t to our parents our teachers and our frxends HISTORIAN MARY REECE Prophecy I, Dawn Hobson havmg been elected senior class prophet am about to look into the future and see what fate will teachmg school in one of Yadkxn County s new consolidated hxgh schools Frankl1nCaudle 15 playing basketball for the New York Knlckerbockers Winda Caudle 15 st1ll runmng around trymg to f1nd that certain someone Judy Cl1ne and Betty Jo Webb have advanced Ill the1r f1e1d and are now managing the Washington R,EdSk1!1S Mary Lou Collins has found out that all the monkeys aren t ln the zoo Tony Comer ls now aprofessor at Wake Forest College Edward Davis is assoclated with Brya.nt s Repa1r Shop ln more ways than one Ellen Davis is still trymg to make up her mind and someone else s Novella
