Cheerleaders make changes The cheerleaders were coach- ed by a new sponsor, Ms. Janice Koporich. Ms. Koporich was o cheerleader in college and she was instrumental in helping the BHS cheerleaders choreograph movements ond develop new ways to stimulate school spirit. Another stimulus to BHS spirit was the new mascot, Big B , whose bee costume was donated by the Youth Center Board. The mascot went to oil the home gomes ond traveled to Regionals. The push is on New Head Cooch Dob Proctor inirioted o Pioneer Push to rake B.H.5. to rhe playoffs. He began with some strong Senior leadership ond powerful support from rhe underclassmen; however, rhe season was plagued by injuries to rhe offen- sive ream, ond rhe overall record was on unsatisfying 4 wins ond 6 losses. The Boonville defense hod on outstanding season with Joe Smith leading his team in quarterback socks. Joe was named Defensive Lineman of rhe Year ond was also picked for rhe All-Area Team. The Defen- sive Dock of the Year Award was won by Orion Tirzer, who also tied rhe school record in in- rerceprions. The Pioneer Most Valuable Player, Tim Hosford, was picked co-caprain, earned Defensive Linebocker of rhe Year, mode Defensive 1000 Point Club, ond was chosen for rhe All-Conference Team. The season's strength in of- fense come from Senior lineman Brent Cummings, who wos chosen os a co-coproin. By runn- ing rhe boll over 5 yards per carry, Tim Hosford earned rhe Offensive Bock Award. Junior Greg Word, who coughr 16 for over 20 yards per catch, proved to be Most Valuable Receiver in Boonville s passing gome. Junior John Baker threw for almost 1,000 yards and kicked for 38 yards per punt. John also mode rhe All-Area and All-Conference Teams. Above right.
