Jane Derendinger Chosen To Compete For DAR Award Miss Jane Derendinger was se- lected this morning to compete for the state Good Citizenship award. of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She wil receive the local award of the Hannah Cole chapter in May. Miss Derendinger, a senior in the high school, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Derendinger of near Boonville. In selecting the representative to compete for the state award the school faculty first chooses three senior girls, after which the sen- ior class selects the one it feels is most outstanding. Qualifications are dependabilityi leadership, ser- vice, and patriotism. - On February 1, 1957, Miss Deren- dirxger will take a- written test given by the National Society of the D.A.R.. which is given to win- nfgrs all over the country. The award for winning in the state is: First prize, S100 Savings sind, second, 550 Savings bond. 1-' .1 'hi'rd, S25 Savings bond. Honor Society Elects New Members The members of the National Honor Society of Boonville High School met last week to select the lnew senior class members for 1956-57. ' The four juniors who were chos- en last year and form the nuce- ieus for this year's organization are Jim Repp, Shirley Burkhead, Stuart Callison and Gretchen Lent. Gaylan Cope, a, member of the Honor Society at Springdale, Ar- kansas, has transferred his mem- bership to B.H.S. The new members who were chosen on the basis of scholarship, character and ability are Bob Dy- er, Joe Bruce Callis, Eddie Stan- field, Freddie Richardson, Jane Derendinger and Carole Robinson.
