Host of the members were from-the lower grades, however we found Paul Brown, Vaudy Hobson, James Stewart, Bruce Vestal, Arvil Caudle and Glenn Dezern waiting to welcome us. As the year passed we're sorry to say that Vaudy Hobson, Clark Jester, Violet Angell and Bruce Vestal fell by the way side. Evelyn spr inkle, Martha Cecil and Grady Fowler moved to ano- ther community. On May'2O, 1958 most of the eight grade girls went on a trip to Raleigh. Mrs. Reece was in charge and the trip was made in Mr. Frank Hobson's truck. During the month of April the boys went to Rockford on a fishing trip. Mr. Deal and.Hr. Walker were in charge. They hunted frogs and had a wiener roast. Part of the boys planned to go on a trip to the mountains the last part of July. The trip however was made in August. Mr. Walker was in charge. Wien the year was over all were advanced to the ninth grade, but Orrell Bohannon and Marvin Hicks. In the ninth grade Robert Burgess, Curtis Haynes, and Grey Brown joined our class. During the year Bill Amburn become a page at the North Carolina General Assembly. Alvis Key moved away while Glenn Dezern, Albert Wagoner, Gu:tisHaynes and Grey Brown started in different walks of life. Tre class officers are: Claude Denny, Presidentg Allene Bovender, Vice-presidentg Grace Marie Jester, Secretary and Treasurer.
