. J CLASS HISTORY April, 1953 Dear Children, ARTHUR ANNA GILBERT BACKER It was only yesterday that I dressed you 1 and made all of the elegant preparations for HD0-itn uGi1' your first school day. Such brave children. 'Always there with an NB1ond, bashful, The big building, the imposing class rooms, and to think it was a sudden transition from answerw behavinvw our being together all day to a formal situ- ation where you were gone. Remember, there I was no kindergarten and you people started in l the first grade. Now let's see. Who were l s 2? your friends? Art Anna, Marvel Warren, Phyllisi Persons, Butch Henry, Lloyd Miller, Barbara Hines, Tom DeTraglia, the twins, Francis and Franklin Sattler, Norman Fuller, Eddie-Larriveyy Mickey Golden, John Presta, and Buzz Reed. As l I remember, you all did very well. I've for- l gotten who the teacher was, but in the second grade, it was Miss Hill. And, gee, you must y have been wonderful children for you were all promoted to the third grade. How nice you all A looked in buttons and bows. You picked up some new friends, Helenjane Holmes, and Evelyn Yauger Your teacher, Miss Vernon CMrs, Newell Wagonerl, do you think she'd recognize you now? I suppose Miss Iseneker would rather not be reminded that she taught you children plus some new ROSE BICKFORD BRUCE BROOKS playmates, Helen Eck, Ann Walton, Tom Kotary, HQ Q, H Ugpucen and Alice Walker.
