VICE-PR .co wm 'W ' R E HAROLD P. SEAMON, suPERv1slNG Pmwcl a F DC l year of our Lord, 1952 Mwnheer Egbert Meeunszoon Kortenaer, cfo Saint Peter, Somewhere in Heaven Above, Dear Mynheer Kortenaer, You were no doubt surprised when St. Peter handed you this book. You asked yourself what your name is doing on its cover. Well, here is the explan- ation. When you opened this book, you must have recognized the name of your old friend, Gerritt Boon. As you perhaps know, Boonville and its vicinity, where the students of Boonville Central School live, was first settled by Mynheer Boon. He wanted to call the region after you, because you were a great national hero of his native Holland. But the other settlers who came with him insisted on calling it Boonville. For many years now, each Senior Class of Boonville Central School has kept your memory alive by calling its yearbook, the Kortenaerian. . The Class of 1952 thought that it would be a good idea this year to recall to its readers the reason why the book has this title and to present its con- tents in such a way that you would get to know us. In the first section of our book, you will be introduced to our distinguished administrators and faculty and to the fine people who take care of our school, our cafeteria and our busses. In the second part, you will come face-to-face with all the other boys and girls, from the oldest down to the tiniest. The fourth section tells you about our activities and accomplishments in sports, and the fifth will give you an idea of our varied musical, social and artistic activ- ities. In the last section you will find the advertisements of friends of ours, who helped to make the publication of this book possible and to whom we are extremely gratefu1.' At the beginning of each section, a number of our artistically-minded people have let their imaginations run wild and have pictured what you might do if you were ever to visit our school. we hope that you will enjoy our book. If, after reading it, you should de- cide to pay us a ghostly visit, be assured, even though we would not be able to see you, that you would be welcome. Respectfully yours, The Class of '52 2 Dedicafion We, the Class of' 1952, wish to dedicate this year- book of ours to our dear friend and faithful advisor, Doris Dorland, to show our appreciation and sincere gratitude for her guidance through our entire high school years. 3 Yearbook Sfaff Row l: Row 2: Row 3: R Rubeor--- W Yager ---- R Griffith- B Covey ---- E Capron--- S Fitch ---- S Kenyon--- T Betsinger C Hoch ----- C Marcy ---- S Fey ------ C Zeigler-- N DeVoe ---- Sawyer--- Linck ---- D C E Fahey ---- A Hoffert-- L Yager ---- R Dolan ---- R Leichty-- L Hina ----- J Pietrusky S Williams- J Brown ---- H Presta--- D Coukos--- G Rice ----- A Walker--- J Zimmer--- A Rice ----- J Blankman- Mr. Lague-- N Henry ---- F Sattler-- R Ryder ---- J Garlock-- F Sattler-- D He1ler--- J Buckley-- J Presta--- L DeVoe ---- B Grower--- W Howard--- A Arrigo--- L Reed ----- Advertising Staff 'Arty Staff Class Editor Picture Editor Art Editor Associate Editor Editor-in-Chief Typing Editor Circulation Manager Girl's Sport Editor Typing Staff Asst. The Halloween Dance provided entertainment for the entire high school. In November, Jade, Spinel, Ruby, Onyx, Metals, Sl7.5O, Balfour, size 8,8f, and Federal tex, suddenly became a part of the Junior Class conversa- tion. Finally the rings were ordered. The Christmas spirit was kindled and brightened by the lusty singing of the Juniors in clubs and classes. The climax came with the annual Christmas party. we presented the Seniors with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The new year was inaugurated with joy and expense as the Junior Class' rings arrived. ' With happy hearts and gay times, the Juniors offered their Club ll with the success that usually marks the Junior functions. We very anxiously await the treat that we hope the Junior plays will give our audience. To add climax to the memorable year that we spent as Juniors, the class is making preparations for the colossal extravaganza, the Junior Prom. 20 Sophomores Row 1: D Sawyer, N Cavanaurh, B DeVoe, M McPhilmy, J Blankman, P Smith, H Rauscher, J Presta, B Pfendler, E McLaufhlin, R Schintzius, J Walton, D Pfendler, Row 2: Mrs. Brooks L Brown, S Yager, F Lahah, M Hughes, J Frank, L DeVoe, J Brooks, L Waterman, C Nugent, B Holcombe, N Leichty, J Lake, J Williams, V Krambuhl, S Waterman, D Strobel, E Berger, Row 3: G Linck, D Bellinger, A Grenier, V Yelton, M Williamson, K Paddock, H Cumminps, W Howard, W Stephen, R Olney, C Kline, J Linck, R Freeman, A Reed, E Murrhy, T Seymour Absenteesg N Crill, P Koster, W Leichty, B Fahey, D Brow. sa President, Harland Rauscher Jr. 5 ,. When Student Council was formed our class actively worked and two members, Bob and Harland, were elected Secretary and Treasurer, respect- ively. We elected Walter Liechty for a second representative. A class party was held in the auditorium in October. Refreshments and dancing were enjoyed. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors enjoyed a Christmas party given by the Seniors, with dancing, games, and a floor show. We were very sorry recently when Noreen and Walter Liechty's father passed away. Our class sent a spray of flowers. Dolores Sawyer and Janet Blankman were the class representatives to sell Kortenarian subscriptions. The response was good. Our public dance is scheduled for March 7, the first Friday of the month from 8-12 with Mary Konkol's orchestra. We hope to be prettily decorated and see you there. 21 Freshmen s Q ,Q ,wk 3. Q.
