2 We live in a time where our values and ideas are constantly changing. These changes force us to think through our decisions and learn about the events of our times. Music has become a major part of our culture, and it not only reflects our thoughts and feelings, but also causes us to think and reevaluate our morals. In the period between 1970 and 1988, music has taken many strange twists and turns. The last eighteen years have seen many performers sky rocket to the top, only to be left in the dust of our changing times. The Bee Gees, Sonny Cher and Donny Marie exemplify those who have shared the lime light and have disappeared in the dark. Others, however, have endured. Bands such as: The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, The Monkees, The Beatles and The Police have withstood the test of time and still influence our musical tastes. The 80's scene has been dominated by superstars such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, U2, UFO and Bruce Springsteen. The changing faces make us wonder where they will be fifteen years from now. Music has served well in expressing our feelings of love, fear and anger. Songs such as We Are the World, Do They Know Its Christmas and Sunday Bloody Sunday have taught and moved us. A major event that unified our generation was the movement for African famine relief. Started by Band-Aid, the movement spread throughout the world, climaxing in the international concert, Live-Aid.
