Over two-thirds of our students not only learn to read and to understand a foreign language but are also prepared for the practical application of everyday conversation. The Romantic languages of French, Spanish, and Latin, along with the Germanic languages of Russian and German, form the curriculum of this department. Laboratory facilities such as professionally-cut tapes and records are used throughout the year. In addition, students have become acquainted with the cultures of the countries where these languages are spoken. 24
