Curtis Parsons College The efforts of the Social Studies Department reach over thirteen hundred students through a curriculum consisting of World History, World Geography, Early European History, Modern European History, Citizenship, and U.S. History. The Social Studies Department, under the supervision of Mr. John Ryder, is concerned with two major and on-going tasks: first, the study of man, both in history and in the contemporary scene; and second, the training of our youth in more responsible and intelligent citizenship. Every high school student participates in an English or Speech class during each of his four years at Boonton. This year we have sixty-one different English and Speech classes supervised by fourteen teachers of English, Speech, and Speech Therapy. Mrs. Luella Irwin, Department Head, is the coordinator of our teamteaching plan, which provides an enriched program for the college-bound student. The department, in its philosophy and practice, is fundamentally concerned with the development of the individual student.
