In September, v e came into the school puzzled and bewildered and were the object of many jokes. Undaunted, however, we entered into the swing of school life and before long were acclimated. The Medicine Show was presented by our class in March, 1944, and its huge success wes possible only because of the co-operation of the entire class and the faculty advisors. Many people considered it one of the finest Freshmen entertainments ever given in BHS. The Freshmen are now prepared to look down on all future Freshmen with due contempt. FOOTBALL This year the Boonton fsns cheered the team on to a better than average season. The Bombers, showing excellent spirit, good sportsmanship, and good clean playing, c'ame through the season with six wins and only three losses. Our best offensive tactic, the pass, usually went from Swede Seaburg to Captain Billy Barnish. This combination, which clicked many times, was made possible by the excellent blocking of the line. Coach Shriner and his assistants, Mr. Cap-linger, Mr. Potter, Mr. Garrison and Mr. Hopkins, deserve much credit for the fine team they produced. FOOTBALL Rockaway Roxbury Hackettstown Madison Bernardsville Morristown Wharton Dover Butler A spirited, hard-fighting quintet was turned out this year by Coach Potter. The team played good ball at all times, though handicapped by changes in the lineup, and fought their way to the state tournament with a record of eleven victories and four losses. The Bombers tried hard to win the first tournament game but proved no natch for a superior Bogota five. The Lorristown gane, played on our court gave the Red and Black a chance to show what they could do against favored Lorristown. This was a nip and tuck contest all the way, and though we lost by one point, it was one of the memorable games of the season. lir. Potter did an admirable job in his new position as varsity coach. Ur. Garrison also deserves much credit for the spirited team he turned out in his first year as J.V. coach. 1 « r WE 42 46 29 26 47 37 48 48 39 34 42 32 24 30 39 26 Alumni Dover Roxbury Butler Pompton Lakes Mt.
