Superintendent of Schools Mr. M. Burr Mann Helen Keller, one of the greatest Americans of all times; Helen Keller, who has climbed from the deepest depths of absolute silence - from the blackest abysmal pit of a soundless, sightless world where all means of communication with her friends and relatives was cut off; Helen Keller mounted the hopeless insuperableness of the forbidding heights through her mental attitudes and SPIRITUAL endowments, and the indefatigable efforts and loving guidance of the late Anne Sullivan. Appearing before eleven thousand administrators last March, at a National Education Association Convention, she was asked: Miss Keller, if you could have one wish and only ONE wish, granted, what would that wish be? i Immediately, and emphatically she replied: I should wish for world peace and brotherhood!11! Impromptu as this question was - asked by the superintendent who was not participating in the program ---------- this Christ-like response touched every soul present as I have never seen an audience moved before. Every one expected her to exclaim: SIGHT! ; they expected she would say it with tearful emotion. Does not this saying belong to the Immortals ?
