Burr Mann Helen Keller, one of the greatest Americans of all times; Helen Keller, who has climbed from the deepest depths of absolute silence - from the blackest abysmal pit of a soundless, sightless world where all means of communication with her friends and relatives was cut off; Helen Keller mounted the hopeless insuperableness of the forbidding heights through her mental attitudes and SPIRITUAL endowments, and the indefatigable efforts and loving guidance of the late Anne Sullivan. Appearing before eleven thousand administrators last March, at a National Education Association Convention, she was asked: Miss Keller, if you could have one wish and only ONE wish, granted, what would that wish be? i Immediately, and emphatically she replied: I should wish for world peace and brotherhood!11! Impromptu as this question was - asked by the superintendent who was not participating in the program ---------- this Christ-like response touched every soul present as I have never seen an audience moved before. Every one expected her to exclaim: SIGHT! ; they expected she would say it with tearful emotion. Does not this saying belong to the Immortals ? BERTHA B. BLANCHARD Brown University A. B. Democracy needs citizens who believe in its ideals and are so loyal to them that they consistently seek the democratic way of life. It can be achieved by one means only, an education, carefully planned and skilfully given, to make youth understand the principles on which democracy is founded and predisposed to believe in them. The Class of 1938 realizes this function of education and aims in its Yearbook to show how our high school contri -butes to the training of future citizens. A Senior, at once a neophyte of life yet the greatest sophisticate, among his contemporaries; old enough to inspire those beneath him yet young enough to be inspired by those above ----- Ah! It is truly wonderful to be A SENIOR. GEORGE SCHAIBLE Our popular and able class president is the friend of all and is ever in demand because of his cheerfulness and willingness to serve. He has carried us smoothly and successfully through this year, giving unselfishly of his time and ability, so that we may look with pride upon our Senior Year. He is genial and happy always, possessing undeniable qualities of leadership which have made him one of the most capable class presidents. DOUGLAS NOLL Ooug ( has been one of the leaders of our class since he was a Freshman, and has excelled in all his classes. His specialties are science and mathematics; from membership in the Student Council, he was elected to Presidency of the Student Regalian Association. He is a cheerful worker, has fulfilled his various executive positions well, and is respected by students and teachers alike. DONALD FOLEY His qualities are well proportioned: an agreeable combination of silliness and intelligence, so that his classmates find him to be a pleasing acquaintance. His scholastic ability, excellent literary work and versatility have succeeded in making him the Wampus Editor. DAVID GUITON Dave , as we call him, our editor, has unselfishly devoted his effort and time in making Echoes of '38 i a success. He has untiring interest in the class and in the basketball team which he also ably managed. He is popular in our class principally for his friendliness and determination. These qualities plus his character have gained the respect of the faculty as well as his classmates. cmzr uiF ANN ADAMS u onto to be a doctor— Alte atveodi maAe y t fie to a rf Noted for: 8tlrrlng romantic notions Probably will be: The perfect bride Has a yearning for: Sundaes Freshmen Minstrel 1 Intramural Sports 1 2 3 1 Junior Usher 3 Senior Chorus 4 Fashion C lub 4 EVELYN ANDERSEN tatt and moot dWt net Forecast: Fair and cooler Usually seen: Hiding behind Foley in French class Probably will be: Future Oarbo Debate Team 3 4 Service Club 3 4 Library Staff 4 Senior Play Cast 4 Wampus Staff 4 Senior Chorus 4 ROBERT ANDERSON Stove ouA, uye tooe a otead-foot ftitervd.” Ambition: Mortician Hobby: Singing Pet Aversion: Being called cute Intramural Sports 2 4 Track (Varsity) 3 Wampus Staff 4 Senior Play Cast 4 Lincoln Park Student Council 4 FRANK AQUINO At doeo not to iuoWi , tuntooo i ou okM f-O'L {dOV 1 Hobby: Arguing with teachers Pet Expression: 88011 off. But these memories— Always will remain with you and me. We've had a pleasant time. Each and ev'ry day— In our merry way— And these memories, Never spoiled or stolen e'er can be. Joy was in our hearts— All throughout the year. Now 'tis o'er, and we'll leave Not without a tear. It's time to say good-bye To our Boonton High So let's smile and sigh— Keeping memories- That will never from our hearts e'er flee. We will to those, from whom we part, our honor and possessions, In hopes that they will continue as we—to the best of their recollections. We leave behind our Senior Year to the records which were taken. With memories which have ever lived and now must he forsaken. We give to the Class of ' 39 a pleasant Senior Year, In hopes that theirs will be a climax of their high school career. We bequeath to the Class of '40 our upperclassmanship; To '41 the future with prosperity and joys to fill it. To the faculty we leave our sincere appreciations. For long hours spent with ne'er a thought of selfish acclamations. Anne Adams requests that Barbara carry on the family name, While June Dobbs trusts to Gracie Mobbs her red hair—a mass of flame. Laura Bott wills to Alice Knorr her beauty, charm, and poise, Stuart Middleton donates to Morgan Hardy his reputation for making noise. To Alfie Generoso, Jimmy Mahoney leaves his ability to dance; Margaret DeVera relinquishes to Doris Borgstrom a pair of piano hands-. Mildred Doremus confers on Gloria Gifford her perfect marksmanship; Jennie Bucco bestows on Irene Jancik her all around sportsmanship; Jean Hopkins leaves to Jean Van Welden her ability to use a bow, And Victoria Di Fiore trusts to Margaret Gonda her voice of deep alto. Angelo Ricci leaves to Joe Marcello his place as a basketball star, While Donald Reeves donates to Gay Crosby his honors as a spelling wizard. Joseph Sherman laughs off to Dick Wahlberg his humor and his wit; Theodore Witty wills to Frances McGrath his manner so quiet. As sole executor, Mr. C. E. Boyer we do name And send him many thanks for steadying us in our worldly aims. We do hereby set our hand and seal on this Thirteenth day of June, In this, our last will and testament as the Senior Class, for soon We shall depart and for future classmen leave room.
