In August Bob Garner and Clifford Peacock entered the Section 3, FFA Fair in Elgin, Illinois. Bob Garner had some bad luck for he lost his prize boar because of the hot weather. K The FFA school year of activities started out in October, when the officers attended the Leadership Training School of Section 3 in Woodstock, Illinois. Their pro- gram of that day was as follows: Registration 2:30--3:00, Leadership School 3:00-- 4-:0Og Reporters Report 4:00--5:00, Recreation 5:00--6:00, Banquet 6:00--7:00, Movie and Speaker from 'Russia 7:00--8:30. November 18, the FFA Officers attended the Poultry and Grain judging Contest on the Curtis Candy Farm in Cary, Illinois. They entered the Poultry Contest and came out in the 15th place. On November 15, a few FFA members entered their poultry and grain in the FFA Show in Huntley, Illinois. They won four firsts and 3522.00 in prize money. The FFA purchased a steel mold for making cement troughs in December. They have making between 4 and 6 troughs a day and have been selling them to the surrounding farmers, which use them for hog and chicken waterers. They can also be used for dry feed or salt. In December the FFA sponsored a Skating Party, which was held at the Fox Skating Rink in Belvidere. This wasithe first Skating Party of the year and was a big success. The judgingteams are preparing for the Live Stock judging Contest which will be held in Marengo, Illinois on April 29. They also are planning to attend the Dairy judging Contest held on the Curtis Candy Farm in Cary, Illinois on May 4. A party with the FHA is planned to take place before the end of the year. Another project that the FFA has undertaken this year is the planting of certified seed. The seeds will be planted in small wooden boxes which will be placed on window sills. The seeds that are to be planted are: Tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, and etc. They are to be planted early so they will be ready to sell to the people of the surrounding area to plant in their spring gardens. During the year the FFA has taken several field trips and have more planned for the remainder of the year. Reporter Bob Fleming
