THE GIRLS' ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION The Girls' Athletic Association organized September Z5 for the year of 1947-4-8. Virginia Gorton was elected Presidentg Roberta Lomas, Vice-presidentg Roma Seaver, Secretaryg lla Gunderson, Treasurer, and Shirley Dunker, Recreation Chairman. Mrs. Harris is the sponsor of the organization. The GAA girls have participated in softball, volley ball, basketball, bowling, roller skating, table tennis, and short periods of dancing. By participating in these activities the girls earn points which go toward awards presented at the end of the year. Some of these points are earned in school and others are earned outside of school, The awards which the girls can earn are as follows: 600 points- a green shield with GAA written across it in white. 1200 points? a green Chenille letter C with GAA inserted on it. 1600 points- state award-- a Chenille letter I in navy blue with GAA inserted in white. 2000 points- state emblem-- a Chenille navy blue map of Illinois with GAA inserted in white. Some of the hih-lights of this year's activities are as follows: The GAA went bowling every other Thursday as long as weather permitted. Trans- portation was furnished by a high school bus. The club bowled at the Harvard Bowling Arcade. The GAA Girls initiated the new members at the beginning of the year. A very delicious lunch was served. The club held a Christmas party in the Home Ec. Room of the high school. Everyone exchanged gifts and the women teachers were invited. A very good lunch was served. T 2 -1
