BAS .-IETBALL SEASON 1947-4-8 With the football season coming to a close the boys then turned to basketball. Around 35 boys reported to Coach Hewitt for their first practice. After a few practices the squad was cut to Z5 boys. The line-up for our first game included Bob Cline and Roger johnson as forwards, john Georgeson and Cliff Courtney as guards, and Ed Anderson at the center position. Later in the season Stanley Mikrut replaced Roger johnson at forward. This line-up developed into a fine hardworking team which never knew when to quit. In our regular season we won 16 games while only losing 4 and finished in third place in the Conference. Of the first ten men five are graduating. They are Bob Cline, john Georgeson, Ed Anderson, Stan Mikrut, and Roger johnson. The five remaining players are john Bond, Clifford Courtney, Russell Fleming, Earl Smith, and Ray Bullard. In the Hebron District Tournament , Capron meets Huntley for its first game. If Capron defeats Huntly we will then meet St. Edwards' of Elgin for the second game.
