JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY Our Class of '49 began the best years of our lives when we stepped through the doors of the Capron High School for the first time. This first great year brought forth thirty-five canny students. The first event of this year was to elect our officers. They were as follows: Class Advisor --Mrs. Lawrence Hattg President--Carol Maxon: Secretary--Phyllis Holmes: Treasurer--Wayne Robinson. The first activity for that's what the Sophomores called it, was the sad event, initiation. This was the one thing that made the students more timid. Some of the year's activities were the raffling of an electric iron, participation in the high school's magazine campaign, and sponsoring a St. Patrick's Day Dance. This year we lost the seven following students: William Benesch, Stanley Carter, Donald Croissant, Shirley Gannon, Roger Metcalfe, jean Rambow, and Donna Vee Smith. Because of sickness we lost another one, Dick Phillips, who later returned with the class of '50. A year later, '46, brought forth twenty-nine brave students. We were going to do the initiating instead of receiving it. After we finished this activity, we elected our officers for the second tixne of our high school career. The officers were as follows: Advisor--Miss Gwendolyn Meadg President-- Ellen Jeffers: Vice-president--Marilyn jackson: Secretary--Maureen Lambert: Treasurer--Daniel Keefc. Our activities were an April dance, and sponsoring a card party in the school gymnasium. Through the year we lost five classmates: Eleanor Burge, who attended a school in Missouri, Barbara Floyd, who is attending school in Sharon: and the other three were Eugene Mikrut, Melvin Monsen, and Wayne Robinson. During the year, we gained two students who were Russell Fleming, who came from Kirkland, and Robert Brinkmeyer, who attended school in'Beloit. This ended the first half of our high school education. This year, '47, started out with a BANG! We now have twenty-nine students, gaining three students from Poplar Grove: Marlene Smith, Clifford Courtney and Ray Bullard. Robert Watkins and Robert Carter came from near Garden Prairie. During the first semester Marlene Smith and Eleanor Burge quit school, and the second semester Robert Carter moved to Loves Park. Our officers of this year are as follows: Advisor--Mrs. Mavis Harris, President--Russell Fleming, Vice-president--Clifford Courtney, Secretary-- Frances Olson, Treasurer--Howard Johnson. As for our activities and other events, we received our class rings, january 5, 1948. Our means of making money for the class were the selling of labels and post cards and helping in a magazine campaign. But our biggest
