,QGAJ4 7 X 76 time making sweaters for themselves, The officers t'or the past year have been: President, Mary Jane Peters, and secre- tary, Betty Morrissey. Miss Handy is the sponsor. Every Friday, period six, thirty girls and twelve boys have met in the shop for Arts and Crafts Club. Under the supervision of Mr. Lein, the club mem- bers have made many leather, wood, and plastic articles. The Art Club. under the capable direc- tion of Miss Nygren, has spent consid- erable time studying textile design and making chalk and charcoal drawings. A project which we have all noticed in the third floor hall is the patriotic mural showing various phases of the armed forces. Many patriotic posters have also been made by the club lor the commun- ity. The object ot' the Radio Club was to learn the facts about radio. Under the super fision of Mr. McIntyre. the club m ,ers have spent many interesting l 's ,hglding and repairing radios. iess and Checker Club. sponsored by Mr. Steeples, met every week for a series play. Each week the club mem- bers challenged a different person, and at the end ot' the year those persons having the most victories were declared the champions. Last year winners were: chess, Donald Maffet: checkers, Carl As- pengreeng and Chinese checkers, LaVerne Babbitt. The meetings ot' the Commercial Club have been varied and interesting. At one club meeting a beauty operator spoke, at another Mrs. Hoist showed pictures of Mexico, and at several group meetings business training students told of then' office experiences, During the tall the club enjoyed a pot luck supper at school. This club was sponsored by Miss Weber. Mr. Cunningham and Mr. McIntyre are the sponsors ot' two active Camera Clubs. Their object has been to give some of our high school camera tlends further knowledge in the field ol' photography. The members have learned how to use the developing tank, how to make contact prints and enlarge pictures. The three things required ot' members of Camera Club have been: 1, to have the use of a canicrag 2, to take at least one roll of tilm per semester, to develop it and make a print from each negative: 3, to pay thirty-tive cents per semester tor ma- terials. This past year, the boys' swim club was put on a war-time program basis. 'ine boys learned how to carry rifles while swimming and also how to swim through oil fire. More emphasis was put on underwater and breaststroke swun- ming. In the girls' swim club the time was spent studying diving and life-sav- ing. Both the girls' and boys' gym clubs have concentrattd on the game of basket- ball as w'ell as the exercises in the physi- cal fitness program.
