Student Council Building Committee Henry Wallace, Les McIntyre Don Benson, Bill Smith Presidents Simlmz' Baclq .feadwi The Student Council is an organ- ization which givcs the members ex- perience in good citizenship by per- mitting them a certain amount of authority in school government. The developing of leadership is of special value in such an organization. Boone High's Council is chosen in a demo- cratic way in that each student is al- lowed to exercise his right of suffrage. The Council is composed of the presi- dents of the various home rooms. Each year new Student council officers are elected, a president. vice-president, and secretary. At nrt-sent these of- ficers are: Les Mclntyre, Willis Big- gerstaff, and Florine Wheeler. Some of the objects of the Student Council are: to represent thc ideas and ideals of the student body: to develoo a greater snirit of democracy: and to nromote the welfare of the institution. Before any administrative idea is brourfht before the Student Council as a hodv, it is the dutv of the Executive Board to bass it. This board is made UD of the three officers of the Student Council plus five more members: Bet- fv D ovan, Jack Schroeder, Jacques 'n, Jean Berry and Marcia Stand- Thc l ' g ommittee, divis'on h' - dcnt sever l s h se are: f . a e all Eames. in ic e han ' Q master keys. and or tin the various ticket selling camnaiens. The council itself devised these duties for the Committee. Shown at left are four student lead- ers. Henry Wallace, Jr., is the sopho- more class nresident: Les McIntyre is the president of the Student Council: Don Benson. president of the senior class: and Bill Smith. nresident of the iunior class. Along with his other school activities. Henry, Hank, has shown a definite interest in football. Les. although primarilv interested in soorts-football. basketball. and base- ball-has managed to find some time to write the sports column for the Bumble B, as w'ell as to sing in the Boys' Glee Club and Mixed Chorus. Bill, also interested in athletics, has shown great success in both football and basketball. He has been a mem- ber of the student council and Dresi- dent of his home room. Donald has been the class president and student leader of the present senior class for the last three years. He has been a cheer leader, member of the Student Council, and is active in almost every phase of school life.
