i .-:www A BITTER BLUE DAY was a turf job, but we won. Remember unloading the sod from the trucks. Then some of it had to be cut into sprigs and carried in wheelbarrows to different parts of the ground where eager planters were all ready to get started. We all had certain jobs to do as we planted our school desert in grass just before the Christmas holidays. Each class had a different part of the grounds to do, so it really didn't take long to plant the three acres. Everyone seemed to enjoy getting on his hands and knees and planting the bitter bluegrass. The idea of the planting originated with our prin- ' cipal, Mr. Earl Kipp, and the Student Council officers. Our new Alma Mater means much to the students here at W. R. Boone High School. For the Seniors, it is a farewell song to classmates and fond memories. For the juniors and Sophomores, it holds a pledge of loyalty that is foremost in the heart of each and every student. Proudly we wear our rings hearing the oficial seal of Boone High School. This emblem came from the combined eforts of Maxine Butler and Iimmy Armstrong. Pictured 'on the seal are the torch, representing knowledge, the winged foot, representing athletics, and the Indian which signifies our own Boone Braves. For our motto, we have adopted Semper I cum virtute - always with courage.
