Social Science Department The Social Science Department this year offered World history, civics, international problems, American government, world geography. American history was not offered this year because of a change from sophomore to junior requirement. Teaching these subjects were Don Stahl, department head, Miss Joan Anderson, Mrs. Priscilla Cook, and Mrs. Kathryn McKay. The object of this department is to give high school students a broader knowledge of events about them, both present and past, and a greater under- standing of the peoples of the World, thus preparing them to meet world con- ditions with intelligent appraisal.

Music Department The Music Department of BCHS this year consists of the Band under the direction of Mr. Carroll Shaver, and the Mixed Chorus, Girls' Glee Club and the A Cappella Choir under the direction of Mr, Edwin Walton. The Band and Glee Clubs have given several concerts and also have given musical pro- grams throughout the year. The Band, Mixed Glee Club and the Choir were rated superior at the Kentucky High School Music Festival this year at the University of Kentucky. All of these things along with the education of music makes this one of the most outstanding departments of the high school and it is one of which the students are proud to be members.
