This was a first for they had never participated in this activity. The Christmas Concert was sparked by the appearance of a faculty member, Mr. Blue, in Twas the Night Before Xmas and the beautiful singing of the soloists Clem- entine Henderson, Tejuana Whitehurst and Linda Kelly. The Art Club strives to improve the understanding and the appreciation of t.he Fine Arts in the school and community. As a part of its ongoing activities, the Art Club decorated the Cafeteria for Val- entine's Day. The Club's activities were highlighted this year by its Modern Gal- lery tour of the Chrysler Museum. The Spanish boosted the school spirit by selling Booster Ribbons' during the basketball season. They engaged in the affairs of the community by distributing baskets to the needy at Thanksgiving. Develops Future Leaders For Marketing And Distribution The Distributive Education Clubs of America is the national organization of high school students enrolled in DE classes throughout the country. Members of DECA: Serve on committees to plan professional and social activities-or, act as chair- man of a committee. Attend the annual district, state or national DECA Leadership Conference as an elected delegate. Help plan the annual banquet which the club gives in honor of employers. Compete in district, State and national DECA contests. Awards are given in Advertising, Display, job Interview, Public Speaking, Sales Demonstration and many others. The organization of the National Honor Society is one expres- sion of this concern. Membership in the National Honor Society has become recognized as one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a high school student.
