Students Experiencing Reading and Speech An experimental summer program in the teaching of reading in the major content areas might well have been the forerunner of an expanded program that will provide basic instruction for all pupils in the school. Teachers from each of the four major subject -matter area-- English, social studies, science and mathematics--devoted one hour per day to the teaching of reading as it is related to the con- tent of the particular area. Students experiencing speech difficulties were assisted two days Mrs- G- Andresen each week by a speech therapist. L X.
