Here at Washington High School that statement is quite true. Mr. H. K. Griggs our dedicated principal is chief executive among us. He always uses deplomacy, good judgment, anda winning personality in furthering his aim for the goodhof the student body and faculty. It is such influence as his that each student carries into the future the essentials for a well -balanced life, which will enable him to live most and serve best. On the basis of these virtues, we the senior class of '59 dedicate this issue of the Pioneer to our much esteemed principal, Mr. H. K. Griggs. 3

FOREWORD As the world moves on in its social, cultural and scien- tivic feats to a greater civilization, so W. H. S. does her part in the development of healthy minds which will in the future be a vital instrument of this greater civilization. The Class of 1959 publishes this issue of the Pioneer to show how W. H. S. has grown and depict the activities of a year that will forever linger in our memories. It is our sincere hope that this issue will serve as a pleasant reminder of the days in W, H. S. Land.
