FORK '0 ll Looking forward to the rise of a greater Booker T. Washing- ton High School, looking backward to note how far down the road of progress we have comeg erecting a monument to those few years of our lives which we have spent in high school, to the cherished memories which will never be paralleledg pausinp for a while to view as a whole the many activities of the schoolg serving as a tug-of-war between right and wrong is on the side of right. In this list, our aims in compiling the l953 PIONEER receive full expression. Tennyson said in one of his writings that, The old order changeth yielding place to newg there fore we find that the time has come, when we must move on, and give our places to others, others who will, we hope, set their goal higher than ours, and thereby do better and more constructive work. We close our high school career with regretg I say with re- gret because the time is at hand vmen that chain of friendship which has been so strongly welded together must be torn asunder. Though SOme0f111S may GI'1tGI .1niversities iw the narrow sense Of' the word, we all enter the university of the world, guided by the teachings of this our Alma Mater. It is our desire, our hope,and our aim, that our help to humanity will be of such a nature that every day of our lives dear old W. H. S. may be able to look up- on us with pride, and feel that the four years she spent in mold- ing our lives were not spent in vain. WWMWV
