Under the able leadership of new head coach Bob Mayes the Hornet footballers came through a tough eason with a winning 8-0 record, ecuring a berth in the first round f playoff action. Through a rollercoster season we never lost a game, though we made it by the seat of our pants a few times. At the end of the season we entered the playoffs with confidence. Why not? We were a winning team. lt is hard for a winning team to lose. We were met on the field by a tough bunch of Putnam City Pirates. We lost. But did Putnam City win or did we give it to them? When you get 160 yards in penalties you don't lose, you give the game away. At the end of the game the scoreboard read 15- 14. The fans filed slowly out of the stadium in disbelief. Driving home after the game we heard on the radio that the Hale Rangers also lost it didn't feel so bad. Then there is always next year.
