Inside Scoop. . . The first scoop of the 1971-72 school year. .. Preparing to return to school is a big project—assem- bling the necessary equipment and getting outfits and accessories for your wardrobe. This year, Mr. Stokesbury and Mr. McLaughlin were getting ready for school too. Between the two, there developed a serious rivalry—the battle of the threads. Since both teachers were to appear before the student body respectively on Wednesday, Aug. 25, they decided to each wear new mod clothes and await results. A $60 limit was set and the two were off with the faculty acting as final judges. Meeting together a few days before the final date, they compared notes. Mr. McLaughlin showed his beige bell-bottomed pants with a contrasting brown jacket while Mr. Stokesbury chose a more conserva- tive navy blue pair of bell-bottoms (actually rather radical compared to his usual very conservative attire) and a matching blue and white pin-striped jacket. Mr. McLaughlin sat back and relaxed. He obviously had the edge in the war for best dressed title. The day dawned. Mr. Stokesbury stepped up to an awed student body to introduce Mr. McLaughlin. And, as he walked off stage whispers and gasps of incredibility hit his audience. Mr. Stokesbury was wearing WHITE SHOES! Beautiful, white leather shoes with black black soles!! Poor Mr. McLaughlin recognized and admitted to his defeat. After all, with a white pair of shoes to top—well, the battle was lost. (Although Mrs. Stith conceded she liked Mr. Mc- Laughlin's subtle brown taste.) But, alas, the victory had a sting. Our lawful, straight-forward principal actually had stretched the rules a bit in order to achieve his grand finale. While Mr. McLaughlin's outfit totaled up to a neat $57 (just under the $60 limit), Mr. Stokesbury's bill rang up to a shocking $72.00. It seems that the night before the big contest, he threw caution to the wind and, on a super-shopping spree, ended up with his $27 white shoes which made him the winnah. Because of this little inequity, the student body would like to judge it a most pleasant draw. For more never revealed but interesting tidbits, stay tuned to INSIDE SCOOP By Marion Horvat 5

An Administrator And A Friend 4

Page 10 text:

Don Stokesbury A MAN OF MANY FACETS Mr. Don Stokesbury is our man of many facets. Not only does he serve well in the capacity of administrator, but also as a master of ceremonies, janitor, and ambassador of the school. Being an administrator is not a 7:45 to 2:35 job. He must also attend school functions from banquets to athletic events, to staying after a dance to clean up.
