TOTEM THE POLE 1956 Bonner Springs High School Bonner Springs, Kansas To Our Parents and The Faculty We, the students of Bonner Springs Rural High School, dedicate this 1956 edition of the Totem Pole to OUR PARENTS, for it is you who have made possible the many wonderful mem- ories that are preserved in this book. It is you who have willingly suffered many hardships and sacrificed much in order that we might always remember our high school days as happy ones. Also, we dedicate this book to the FACULTY. It is you who have spent many hours pre- paring us to go out into the world to make our lives successful. It is our hope that as you look through this 1956 Totem Pole, you will enjoy the many memories that you have made possible for us. Each member of the Bonner Springs High School senior class of 1956 vowed at the day of graduation we would all meet again in twenty years at the same place we parted, the new auditorium of the dear old Bonner High. Many things have been planned for this week-end, I am your hostess. Dr. Carol Roark. We're very fortunate to have Ronnie Dickson the famous Jet Ace with us since only a short time ago he crash landed his plane going at a rate of 3,000 m.p.h. and broke his leg. He is under the care of his private nurse, Sherris Kahle, who left her position as president of a nursing school to care for him. Our former classmate, who is now a famous wrestler, Jerry McKinney will be a little late as he and his manager and trainer. Jack Killingsworth have been delayed in New York City. As you all remember, Jerry who was little and thin in school, took some of the famous tonic SELCSUM made by the Lingo-- Reynolds Corporation. Walking in just now are Dan and Don Close the Kumquat Kings of the “more you eat the more you want” Kumquat Company, with their pert Secretaries Alice Jahr and Arlene Wendt. Sitting on the front row we have Miles Coiner emcee on the $93,000,000Question, TV program. He was driven here from his room at the recently built, $3,000,000,000 Conrad Ramsey Davis Hotel, by his chauf- feur, George Johnson. His car is one of the new “Supreme” '8 cars with the radar control, produced by the Gordon Hofstra and Tom Lindsay Company. Also here from the Hialeah Park is Fred Goble, noted veterinarian whose horse Gretel” named after Glenda Hansen, just won a race. The jockey Lawrence Jackson has recovered very well from a throw Gretel gave him. Norma Howard, director of the Wyandotte Childrens Home, who just was given a year’s supply of Gilliam Toothpicks, the toothpicks for false teeth, is in charge of the banquet after our entertainment. Lloyd McIntyre, chef of the Conrad Davis Hotel will cook the meal which will consist of a main dish of Veal Marengo ala Tinberg, one of the chef’s most famous dishes named after another old grad, Pat Tin- berg, the U.S. Ambassador to Lower Slobblovia. As we look around the room, we notice a very spectacular array of color which comes from the much decorated uniform of Admiral David Rhode, whose ship the U.S.S. Bonner Springs docked in San Francisco yesterday after breaking all speed records, sailing around the world in 2 hours and 52 minutes. He is seen discussing the voyage with the ship’s designer and builder Elbert Surritte. Before the banquet begins, Sheila Troumer will put on her world famous animal act “Sheila and her White Cats.” This is the same act which she performed before the Sultan of Monacco, William Budy, who is expected to attend the banquet but as yet has not arrived. The cause was trouble with the Harem.” Here to preserve this great occasion for all posterity are the world famous artists. Ginger Lane, Marge Bushnell, and Marvin Kessler, co-owners of the largest art studio in the world. Luella McDonald, the world famous beautician is here from Paris with her assistant, Lucille Crosby. Patty Dale the world famous Oregon Lumber Jack is also seen, talking to Connie Long who is the organist in the local mortuary. Wanda Wasson famous Hollywood make up artist recently arrived in her private plane from the west coast. She is accompanied by the pilot Louann Ruby and her stewardess Wanda Jo Dunham. One of the all-time great athletes Paul Garstecki who is the player manager of the world famous championship Kansas City Athletics is discussing one of the famous infield plays with Sandy Burnam, who recently broke all existing records for swimming the English Channel. Also included in this group of distinguished athletes is Don Clevenger, America’s great miler who is out to break the 3 minute mile sometime this month and Brent (mouse) Braun who can crawl faster than any one else in the world. Karl Foster who recently got a promotion from paper boy to type setter for the Kansas City Star is seen dozing in the corner. The attractive young lady, who is whispering to “The Homemaker of the year 1976,” Martha Sowers, is Ellenor Rees, who is very well-known as the first woman to wade across the Kaw River. The latest reports are that Betty McCord and Publishing Company just returned from the Ozarks, where they have just finished publishing all the latest mountain songs. They have been under the direction of Betty Parks, originator of some of the songs and friend to all the Ozarkians. Now it is almost time for the banquet and our former classmate, Jeanie Fenton will have charge of the food, and with her assistant Wanda Dunkin, will serve the meal. Just one moment—yes—its themll! We were terribly afraid that Dixie Stanley, model from the Bowers Model Agency and her boss would not be able to make it. Coming in with them is Evelyn Vaughn, publicity agent for the company. And now at last let’s eat. Activities w B-Team Cheerleaders LEFT TO RIGHT: S. Curran, J. Reynolds, S. Worley, D. Padgett, C. Bundy. FIRST ROW, Left to Right: C. Woolf, S. Curran, S. Beach, M.
