Upon looking up the word annual in Webster's dictionary we believe it is very correct in giving the definition as yearly , but we don't think it quite tells the full story when it gives the meaning of spon- sor as t'backer . The Diamond Drill sponsors have given us endless ideas, steered us away from unwise decisions, and carried a great deal of the responsibilities on their shoulders. We, as an annual staff, realize that without their guiding influence the Bonne Terre Yearbook would not be what it is today. So, as a very small token of our sincere thanks for their ceaseless help and untiring patience, and as a complete surprise to them, we gratefully dedicate this, the 1950 Diamond Drill, to Miss Opal Collins and Mr. Wayne Wood. The boys started the season off with a bang, but were stalled by a bases-loaded third out to lose to a strong Desloge team by one run. Our boys then went into a tailspin and lost three more, the last to Elvins by one run. Finally, our boys got into the winning column once more with a forfeit from Bismarck. Bonne Bonne Bonne Bonne Bonne Bonne Bonne GIRLS VCDLLEYB The girls' volleyball team of Bonne Terre High School. under the direction of Miss Gasper, had a successful year in 1949-50. Playing eight games, the NA team won four and the team won two. All of the winning games were played on the home Court, Losing only two team mates last year, most of the girls were old hands at the game and handled the ball skillfully. To the girls' volleyball team of 1950 we extend our very best wishes. The Gypsy Dance was next and the girls really looked the part in their colorful costumes. The old church choir rendered a few selections very beautifully. 'l'he Better Babies Contest was a hilarious affair with all the babies ending up in a tie. Next on the agenda came HGabble and Gavel, which gave the audience an impression of how a gossipy women's club is held. Follow- ing thls the tumbling class put on its act of building pyramids, doing summer- saults, etc. 'l'he grand finale was the crowning of the annual queen, Miss Marilyn Lee Horn, with the annual sponsors, editor, past editors and past queens as honor- ed guests. 1 5 .
