SENIOR CLASS HISTORY On September 5, 1944, the doors of the high s hool were opened and 65 of us became the freshmen of that year After our 'initiation come and gone, we assembled in study hall for our first class meeting right down to business, we elected Dwight Meyer, president, Howard unto us, day' had Getting Welborn, of our number strolled vice president, John Meyer, secretary, and Sophia Sardyga, treasurer selected Miss Beula McQuary and Mrs Norween Parker as sponsors We also made plans for a hike at this meeting As the year passed on we had more hikes, and a leap year party at Teen Town So, our first year ended with a brilliant past and a promising future Once again September rolled around Fifty six sophomores After down North Allen to be enrolled as on the freshmen we cast aside years ahead of us At our flrst president, Mary Blackwell, vic Mrs Eva Maglll and Miss Peggy we amused ourselves with hikes had proved ourselves worthy of had been added to our store of Summer vacation passed, we had wrecked vengeance and settled down to the elected Howard Nelborn, our childish ways class meeting, e president, and John Meyer, secretary treasurer Schultz were selected as sponsors As before, and parties The year drew to a close, and we being called juniors Another year of learning knowledge and 52 of us assembled again to transact our first official business of the year We elected David Stewart, president, owen Cedarburg, vice president and again John Meyer was elected treasurer Miss Helen Muzzy and Mr Wayne hood were chosen Hikes were again the center of our social life, and we restricted llfe to the dances after basketball games As we had many ideas, abundance of initiative, we started making plans for our senior trip the flnanclal requirements, we started selling everything from T secretary sponsors our party and To fill shirts to greeting cards At the end of the year our books showed a decided increase in funds We scored with a hit when we presented 'Miss Jlmmy', under the dlrec tion of Miss Beula McQuary In April we transformed the Masonic Temple into a nBlg Tentn and gave the seniors their farewell banquet After much feasting, we climaxed the evening with dancing to the music of Skip E1llot's Star Dusters This year, too, drew to a close and when September rolled around in '47, it found us walking through the halls as seniors This, our best and last year, proved to be our busiest also Owen Cedarburg stepped to the front as president, Mary Blackwell, vlce president, Betty Bequette, secretary treasurer Miss Mary Lou Drum and Mr Wayne Wood were chosen as sponsors Shirley Evans, Howard Welborn, and Owen Cedarburg represented the seniors in the newly organized student council We presented 'A Date with Judyu as our senior play, under the direction of Miss Sue Betson As we are very modest, we will only say that many years will pass before this presentation will be forgotten by its audience Nith the help of the Mother's Club, and continued participation as salesmen, our dreams became a reality, and in April we took our long anticipated trip to New Orleans With examinations, baccalaureate, and the banquet over, we reached the goal for which we had been working the past four years graduation Four years of working, yes, but also four years in which we stored away precious memories of carefree days memories that will linger forever in our hearts, warm, pulsating and sclntilatlng o e ' ' .
