THE DIAMOND DRILL SENIOR CLASS PROPHESY The United Talkers Club held their regular meeting in the Scout Hall Tuesday night, and the whereabouts of the members of the Senior Class of 1926 were revealed. The members of the class were discussed in the order in which they sat in the study hall. Ray Addis, let it be known, is the manager of a chicken farm located two miles from Farmington. A ietter was received by one of the members of the Club from Gladys Belknap. and she is the champion typist of Missouri, having held this title since March 1926. Eliza Belknap, who was one of the humorists of the class is a traveling companion to her former classmate, Miss Glenda Holdman, who is the famous Woman's Right Speaker of America. They are now touring Japan. Miss Verna Cloud, who is going under the stage name of Lotta Fun. has accepted a two year contract to play her violin at the New Wide Awake theatre at Flat River, Mo. Bradford Delano, is living in Fredericktown and sending circulars to other towns advertising the greatness of his city. He is also advertising the Starr Hospital which is under the management of Fannie Dotson, a citizen of Leadwood. Raymond Counts and Isabelle Malugen are reported to be married and have erected a small Blue Moon Road House three miles from Hazel Run. The veracity of the state- ment was proven by Fannie Dotson for she entertained there over the last week end. Elizabeth Johnston is in Hol ywood acting as Fred Gardner's leading lady. Their latest picture is Treading the Primrose Path. ' CONTINUKD oN PAC! Jo -1291- E AMOND DRI SENIOR Fl AQ? Hex- 1 111 '111 THE DIAMOND DRILL Hermes: Oh father and king, illustrious arbitrator and judge, the mortals you de- sired are come Zeus: It is well my son: bring them before me! iExit Hermesl Venus: fPouting as girls have tried to pout since time wash 'Tis for us to ingratiate ourselves in the favor of these earthly visitors, noble father? Zeus: Yes, my daughter: as it has gone with the visitors of the past so shall it go with these. After they have come to know you intimately they wil choose one of you their lifetime sponsor. So it belits you well to win their favor. Opportunity so inviting falls to even gods but seldom. tTurning to Athena. troubledl Why is it, Athena, that you, offering so much, are chosen by so few? Athena: I am not alluring to all, Zeus: I appeal to on y those who desire wisdom over all things-wisdom for its own sake--and they are few. And-but Hermes returns. fHermes enters followed by a number of humans.l Hermes: Behold the Freshman class, Oh Father, from far away Bonne Terre. Zeus: fBowing pleasantly before so imposing an array of eager young peoplel Peace unto- you, and ..............,..,......,..,.............,., But Vulcan is at work. A clap of thunder drowns out Zeus's words, and a huge angry, black cloud is shoved out of a cave by the thunderbolt smithy. The cloud ob- scures the rest of the scene, People who saw the play when Vulcan was asleep re- port that the earthly visitors, after becoming acquainted with the various gods and goddesses, went into a troubled conference-not unlike the late Democratic conven- tion-and finally emerged carrying an Athena banner. But that, despite their failure to turn the heads of the members of the Freshman class, Apollo and Venus were not angry but benevolently offered to assist Athena in her sponsorship-an offer which Athena accepted. On the whole, said these lucky people, the ending of the play was very happy.
