You ' d better start studying now, girl I WITNESSES: I, Jimmy Moody, will my bus number 82 to anyone who can keep it between the ditches . Betty Leonard Lib Gaines G. M. Shumar Testator 11 Prophecy After being out of the country for several years, I came to New York City. While I was attending a fashion show one afternoon, whom should I see but one of my class- mates of ' 58, Carlile Fields, the prettiest model there. We begantalking about our other classmates and I found that she had kept track of them through the ten years since our graduation. She told me that the dresses being model- ed were designed by Nancy Hiliiard and Elizabeth Gaines. Also, Carlile told me she has twin daughters. When she models, she leaves them at a day nursery run by Patsy Fields . 1 asked about Emma Jean Calicutt and learned that she is a secretary for a large exporting business firm owned by Jimmy Moody and Earl Justice, here in the big city. She told me that Betty Jean Blalock and Sarah F ranees Clark are hair stylists and own a large shop in Bonlee, our old home town. Gene Wilson is now a pilot forT. W. A. and Marie Phillips loves her job as stewardess on his plane. George Oldham, who always seemed to like driving a school bus, now drives a Greyhound bus. Wayne Rose and Harlan Phillips have their own T. V. show called A Million Laughs and Luther Jones has his own radio show on which he sings all the popular songs. He always did like to sing (especially in class), so this did not surprise me. Donald Whitt, L a r r y Reid, and Boyd Harris are doing very well with the Washington Redskins with whom they play pro. football. That certainly was turning their first love into a life vocation. Also, Richard Carter has a large cattle ranch in T exas . SulonHoltis captain of a large ocean liner and nobody could enjoy that excitement of travel more than he . Then we begantalking about our teachers, and I discovered there were three among our classmates. Patricia Webster and Mary Frances Clark teach in the brand new elementary school recently built at Bonlee; and E a r 1 Phillips, who could always play the piano so well, gives all his time to teaching music. Since this accounted for all our classmates, we said good-by and went back to our jobs, both feeling a great deal better with our renewed memories of the old class of ' 58, Class Prophet Betty Sue White 12 F J ... 1 L. CLASS HISTORY We the Seniors of ' 58 have almost com- pleted our twelve years of school. A few more days and we will be receiving our long awaited diplomas . As we wait for these diplomas, we look back over the years of happy schooling which have been ours at Bonlee High School, T welve years ago we entered our first year of school. We were a big, happy group of kids, anxious to make friends with one another. For eight years we enjoyed our elementary grades. They were full but happy, and we learned to like school as we learned, for which we owe thanks to all of our teachers for their patience and for the faith they had in us. 14 In ' 54 we started our Freshman year of high school. Mrs. Betty Leonard wel- comed us as our home room teacher. That year we received a big thrill getting used to our new schedule, having more than one teacher, and changing classes. Our class officers were President, Wayne Rose; Vice - President, Donald Whitt; Secretary and Treasurer, Sonny Dark. Our small fund-raising experience came from working in the cafeteria at the Hallowe ' en Carnival. CARLILE EMMA FIELDS - Sweet Pea .... Buck .... That year Mr. Shumar gave us a hearty welcome into his room. Our Class officers were President, Anne Cooke; Vice-Presi- dent, Sulon Holt; Secretary, Larry Reid, Treasurer, Betty Lou Branson. Again that year we worked hard in the cafeteria to make money at the Hallowe ' en Carnival . One of the big thrills of the year for our girls was being waitresses at the Junior- Senior Banquet in the spring. 16 In ' 56 we entered our Junior year of high school. Mr, Wilson had to divide his time between duties as principal and being our home-room teacher. Class Officers this time were President, Boyd Harris; Secretary, Emma J e an Calicutt; Treas- urer, Earl Phillips. That year we gave the Junior play, which was titled Aunt Cathy ' s Cat . . It was a great success, we thought, and we surely enjoyed every minute of the production. The high spot of that year was the Junior-Senior Banquet, which we, along with the Seniors, enjoyed very much. Being host to the Seniors gave us a special thrill and made us feel impo rtant . Then in the fall of ' 57 we became Seniors. Miss Sadie Holleman, our home room teacher, greeted us with a friendly smile. This was our last and most exciting year of school and we looked forward to it with enthusiasm. We we re a little sad because, little by little our number had divided to only twenty-five. Our class officers were President, Wayne Rose; Vice-President, Lib Gaines; Secretary, Patsy Fields; Treasurer, Emma Jean Calicutt . That year we published the Bonlee Gazette and the T reasured Leave s. The Juniors gave us a lovely banquet, which we will always remember. Our greatest thrill was when we received our class rings. We were really proud of them. We also gave our Senior Play which seemed very successful. Now, we are about to walk down the aisle in our caps and gowns to receive our diplomas. Time has changed us in many ways, and we are not as happy as we thought, realizing that soon we are leaving the carefree days at Bonlee School, but hoping we are ready to face the future- on our own.
