To help recall and keep in mind the warm memories of these wellused years, we have produced the 1955 edition of TREASURED LEAVES. Dedication By far the High School years are the shortest years. As we reminisce, the memory of those who taught us to learn, understand, and appreciate the ways of life is very strong. To our High School Faculty; Mr. W. D. Wilson, Mrs. William DeWeese, Mrs. Ralph Leonard, and Mrs.Ina D. Andrews,in whom we trust anddepend, we, the Seniors of 1955, wish to dedicate the TREASURED LEAVES. School Days For twelve pleasent years we have toiled and learned To receive a diploma that we all have earned. The years have been enjoyable and filled with fun, Although we have been busy and stayed on the run. To our teachers, we thank them one and all; Their unforgettable memories we will always recall. Our school days at Bonlee are now left behind, But we have a more brilliant heart and mind. The time is drawing nigh for each to depart, But true love will remain in every heart. Graduation day is here, our school days are through, The class of fifty-five bids you all adieu. Class History W , the Seniors of °55 realize, as we are thinking about going off.to school, getting a job, and going out on our own, that it is about the end as pe years of HeeRy schooling which have been ours at Bonlee High School. Oo eae After eight long years of granimar school, we, the Seniors 6f.'55, entered high school. As weentered our first year of high school, we were welcomed by our sponsor, Mrs.Edith Broyles. That year we received a bigthrill gettingused to our new eee dule, having more than one teacher, and changing classes. Our small fund raising experience came from working in the cafeteria at the Halloween Carnival. 3. Now back from our summer’s vacation we entered our Sophomore year sponsored by Mr.W.D.Wilson. At the first ofthe year we elected our dependable clags officers: President, Allie Carter; Vice-President, Tommy Burns; Secretary, Jan¢é Markham; Treasurer, Helen Branson. Again that year our small.fund raising came from work- ing in the cafeteria, at the Halloween Carnival, and in the Spring several of our girls were waitresses at the efor Senior Banquet. - BO54 =. : That summér’s E ication passed even more Sa iy tes the preceding one, and before we realized it we were Juniors. That year we were sponsored by Mrs. Ina Andrews. Our yery faithful Junior Class officers were President, Allie Carter; Vice- President, Tommy Burns; Secretary, Jane Markham; Treasurer, Clyde Andrews. In the early fall we sponsored ‘‘The Sauline Players’’ and had a small fund raising activity at the Halloween Carnival. A’ great success was our Junior play, a farce comedy, “Grandad Meets a Pal,’’ which was presented in the fall. At the beginning of spring we went along with.the’Seniors on a trip to Fort Bragg, which was very en- joyable as well as educational. The treat of the year was the Junior-Senior Banquet, which we, along with the Seniors, enjoyed very much. During ourlast month of school we publi deed our first newspaper. Before we knew it, the Seniors were walking down tive rsie pec caving their diplomas. qt did not seem possible’ that next fall we would be Seniors. ? 2 £95575 _ ce After” our summer’s vale tion, we the Freshmen of 52 entered the doors of Bonlee High Schoolfor our last year of high school life. We were welcomed by Mrs. Dalton Buckner. We elected our faithful class officers: President, Clyde Andrews; Vice-President, mson; Secretary, Jane Markham; Treasurer, Manley Cotsiman. In, Aas e September Mrs. Buckner left Us, ‘and Mrs. William DeWeese proved to be a great success including the Senior ‘ing and the beautiful Banquet the Juniors gave us. jthe aisleinour caps and gowns to receive our t our school days at Bonlee High will soon be no more. diplomas, we reste tha Margie White Class Historian Class Prophecy I had just spent a wonderful afternoon on the beach at Miami, and as I entered my hotel, who should I see but one of my old classmates of °55, Joyce Tillman. She is now an Air Line Hostess for Eastern Air Lines. She was very surprised to see me, and since she makes round the world flights, 1] thought she was sure to know about all my classmates. As she began torake her mind,I asked her first about Jimmie Wilson. She said he definitely didn’t leave his father’s poultry business, and now he is a poultry million- aire living with his wife and three boys on the outskirts of Bonlee. She also noted that he was driving anew X-51 latest sports model by Harry Moody. Harry always did love’51 school bus. Il admired her uniform, and she told me it was the latest design by Hardy. Shelby, who was always designing her school clothes, is now a famous designer in New York. As we were getting deep into conversation, who should come up but one of my smartly dressed bell-hops, Tommie Burns, carrying Lydia Andrews’ bags. Lydia, who is now a famous model of the latest styles, spends the winter down with her husband and daughters. While we were enjoying ourselves with our old school days, the evening paper from Washington, ‘The National News’’, edited by Allie Carter and Helen Branson, came, and we were very thrilled to see the headlines stating that Dr. Jane Markham with her assistant nurse, Margie White, had discovered a new miracle drug, which is believed to save millions of lives. As the evening was beginning to come to an end, we were looking at television with the latest cabinet design by Tracy Hayes, Inc. While looking at the program, who should we see in professional basketball with the Chicago Road Runners but Joyce Phillips and Betty Lou Wilson, who acquired fame for their great team work-- “Sure looked cute sitting on the bench, girls.’’ By the way, this show was brought to us by Manley Councilman and Clyde Andrews, Inc., who are now running a car garage--the largest toy car garage in the world. _ 4 to our own quarters, | was delighted to hear that Ann Myers had worked her way from floor clerk in Jones Department Store to manager of the largest store in the world, Macy's of New York, : As she was about to leave, she had almost forgotten Russell Webster, who was piloting the plane she was on. This reminded her that her plane left in ten minutes. She called a taxi, which was driven by Rayford Burke, the best cabbie on the beach, and scurried away as quickly as possible. “Solleave you now with the sweet memories of my graduating class of °55 ten years hence.
