Baron cross country spent many hours pushing their bodies through tough workouts under the fine coaching of Ed Teagle. The team had a single disappointing loss to Hilltop which kept them one step away from capturing the cross country banner for the fourth year in a row. Jeff Ruland was a great inspiration to his team, breaking records in the many three mile courses in which he ran. His out- standing times enabled him to be a first place finisher in almost every race he ran in. Yet the relatively young team fell short of their goal because of a slow start early in the season. The team soon began to work together and came back to prove how strong they actually were, coming back to rip strong teams as Hilltop and Chula Vista in the Second half. With Mr. Bob Welton as the new coach, the Barons will start working such promising athletes as Mike Jackson, Kevin Zarllng, Bill Troino and Chris Taggart.
