She also teaches P.E. and hopes to help students realize the 'importance of physical activity. She feels that all students can contribute to the total environment ofthe school, and that each person at BV has something to ofter. Her favorite high school activities included all sports events, drama, and music activities. Her favorite hobbies include tennis, golf, swimming, music, and reading. fCenter, leftl Mr. Lorenzo Roberts teaches life science and P.E. He also coaches the baseball team. He graduated from SDSU. tCenter, rightb Mrs. Sandra Grandison believes in the llSound mind in a sound body theory, where she feels one must be nt mentally, physically, and emotionally to survive. She earned a BS in Health and Physical Education while minoring in American History at Ball State University in Indiana. In high school she enjoyed cheerleading and athletic events. She still actively participates in tennis and volleyball, cycling, beach sports, and snow skiing, while enjoying house plants as a hobby. She plans on taking college course work yearly to keep in touch with new ideas on P.E. and incorporate them into her teaching. iLower, leftl In her high school Miss Jan Kimball participated on the school newspaper, GAA, sports, and was a teacher's aide. Now she enjoys reading, needlepoint, and swimming. She attended San Diego State to obtain her BA. She teaches volleyball, tennis, badminton and English Compositon 100, besides coaching the volleyball, softball, and gymnastic teams. iLower, right? Mr. Whitby, through teaching, hopes to provide an atmosphere which will bring the best out of every student, and to develop within each student responsibility for hisfher actions. He attended Compton College to earn his AA degree, and San Diego State University for his BA and MA degrees. He went to the University of San Diego to major in History and minor in P.E., English and philosophy. He teaches American Frontier History and hopes to get students to appreciate and enjoy the course. His favorite pastime is being Statistician for the San Diego Chargers. 20 1

Mr. Ralph Carrier teaches English and Spanish. He majored in English. He attended SDSU to major in Language Arts CEnglish and Spanishl and earned his BA degree. In his free time, he likes to play tennis, write poetry, and watch old movies. He feels he is basically a private person and takes pains to guard that privacy. tAbove, rightl Mrs. Carol O'Connell took part in student government, theater and debate, while in high school. She continued her education at College of William and Mary, receiving a BA in English and an MA from the University of Virginia. She teaches Shakespeare, College Prep. Composition, English Literature, American Literature, and introduction to the theater in the SWS program. Spare time activities include sailing and the theater, lCenter, leftl Merideth Allen, sec. of SWS. lCenter, right? Mrs. Dorothy Murphy enjoys bike riding and sailing. She feels that to provide a safe environment where students feel free to question is one of her main goals in teaching. She teaches American Lit. and English Comp. 100. lLower, leftl Ms. Ring teaches dance, family life, healthfdriver ed., ecology, music appreciation, and P.E. She attended SDSU. Ms. Ring feels that students are mature, responsible human beings and are capable of making the best decisions for their educations and lives. Ms. Ring loves dogs and has one mutt and an afghan. Mr. John Minich loves sports, especially handball, beach sports, and camping. In teaching all levels of math and P.E. in the L.I.F.E, program he offers a happy, comfortable environment along with a humanistic approach. In 1966 Mr. Minich traveled around the world through a scholarship to the University of the Seven Seas. 203
