The fine Baron Spirit of '67 was displayed by our Bonita drill team during the first year of its existence. Like many other specialty groups the Baronettes had difficulties with uniforms and new routines. However, with the help of their advisor, Miss Gale Evans, their captain, Debbie Roberts, and their four lieutenants, the drill team developed into a very organized marching unit. At the beginning of the year, the Baronettes sported, as uniforms, white bermudas with blue and gold stripes on the sides, a Baron sweatshirt, and blue tennis shoes. The Baronettes first appearance was at the Bonita versus Hilltop game. The drillteam then continued to do a fine job performing at all the other football games The thirty-eight girls who were members of our drill team kept up a high scholastic standard which enabled them to retain their membership in the Baronettes. These girls spent extra time after school practicing marching and doing their routines. Because of their interest and participation in school activities, these girls have contributed greatly to the formation of a winning school. Linda Cowart S yi K .QW lf H. l it ,lm lowiwowgw Mir ob Ji .Q lyjfwly Retaining the individualism of Bonita, it was decided we would have eight cheerleaders forming a Pep Squad, in lieu of four songleaders and four cheerleaders which is customary. After selection by the student body, these girls were confronted with the task of learning new cheers. Having designed and made their uniforms they performed the fol- lowing week at the Vista game. Each girl considered being selected a great honor, and hours of practice were put forth to prove her worthiness of being cheerleader. With undying enthusiasm, our Junior Varsity pep squad supported the Barons at every game and led us with spirit- ed leaps and cheers. But cheering at games was not the extent of their duties. The eight girls also set an example of pride and interest in their school which inspired us other students. The cheerleaders, symbol of the Spirit of '67, repre- sented the spirit of the student body as a whole. pgggd M u K Cheryl Gibson i fx! Chris Miles 9 allll .v ll gl Gale Speegle
