Senators, Commissioners Form Vicki Byrd Suzanne Bureton Student Store Service Senators and commissioners composed an important part of our student government. Five senators from each grade were chosen by their classmates to represent their individual interests in all activities. Senators attended meet- ings and, by contributing ideas, were able to give fair stu- dent body representation. Before acquiring the job of commissioner, students had to win the approval of the ASB. After being accepted, Bo- nita Vista's nine different commissioners settled down to the hard work at hand. Each commissioner had his own individual area which he represented. Senators and commissioners added their new thoughts to Bonita Vista High School's already abundant supply of original ideas. Progresses Rapidls The Student Committee, founded in April, 1966, was made up of students from Hilltop, Granger, and Castle Park lunior Highs, each of which were represented by two students each of the seventh, eighth, and ninth grade classes who met the challenge of getting Bonita Vista High School organ- ized with driving determination. Members of the Student Committee were our first student government representatives. A few of the problems they had to deal with were choosing school colors and school nicknames for the student body to vote on when school officially opened in September. They accomplished much and made decisions which otherwise would have taken up valuable time during the school year. Because of diligence and persistent efforts on their part, the '66-'67 year at Bonita Vista got off to a great start. The student body of Bonita Vista High owes a tremendous amount of' gratitude to their Student Committee. The Student Committee is to be commended for the excellent quality of its work. Advising the Com- mittee was Mr. Schanke. ASB Officers, Doug Single, Sue Krzywicki, and John Buttitta, confer during their lunch hour. All of our ASB officers, senators, and as- sembly members worked together in pro- ducing a first class Bonita Vista govern- ment. The unity in student government displayed our great Spirit of '67. Assembly members and senators served as a link between the student body and the ASB officers. Our first year provided a number of tasks for those involved in government to perform. A Bonita Vista constitution had to be drafted, and students were anxious to set traditions. These iobs were effi- ciently handled by our ASB government. As part of his presidential duties, presi- dent Doug Single speaks at a Senate meeting.
