37 Qx J , W :- , 3 ff ff T f ferry Spitzenberger FRE HMA LASS HISTORY On September 4, 1957, thirty-three peppy freshmen entered high school. This was the largest class in the history of Bone- steel High School. On September 11, initiation WEB held. V All freshmen dressed in different costumes and spent the day carrying Seniors' books and polishing Seniors' shoes. All Freshmen agree that this event highlighted the year. The freshman class officers were: President, Francis Schmitzg Vice-President, Ronald Ludemanng Secretary, Dennis Jonsg and Treasurer, LeRoy Schmitz. Francis Schmitz and Judy Joyce were student council representatives. Mr. Burian was class sponsor. Ten boys went out for football and nine boys were on the basketball squad. Jeanne Haisch and Jerry Spitzenberger represented the freshman class as carnival king and queen candidate. Those participating in declam were: Humorous, Jeanne Haisch, Kay Lounsbery, Margaret Ann Young, Bonnie Leslie, and Judy Joyce, Poetry, Janet Tech, Beatrice Klundt, Mary Ellen Jensen, Barbara Johnson, Carol Brunmeier, Kay Aisenbrey, Francis Creekmur, and Raymond Sip. Three freshmen participated in the Region V vocal and piano contest at Kimbal. They were: Janet Tech, Soprano, Larry Schmitz, Tenorg and Judy J oyce, piano. They all received excellent ratings. Margaret Ann Young, Janet Tech and Bonnie Leslie sang in the girls' ensemble. Patty Litzo left the class at the close of the first semester to attend school in Valentine, Nebraska. Eleven freshmen boys and girls are members of the school band. Judy Joyce was chosen B team cheer- leader. In February Bonnie Leslie was B team cheerleader after Nita Sondgeroth moved.
