Jem van stein tina, ana Rosenberger shared glue' hero- ine's role for the Boiidurant sexlette. ., Von Stein, fouled with nine seconds left to play in the 'regula- tion contest, calmly sank both tree throws to tie the game and send it into an overtime. ' In the three minute over- - time, Rita Rosenberger canned a fielder to give ihe Bondu- rant team their victory. Lacona seemed to havesthe evic- tory in the bag when with 38 sec- onds leit to play, Marie Clark duplicated Von Ste-in's fete as she sank two free throwsifor Lacona to give them. a 41-39 lead, but dame fortune wasn't smiling on the Lacona sextette -and they couldnt hold onto their lead. Scoring honors for the igame were shared ,by Von Stein of Bon- durant and Viona Baker of La- cona. Each had 22 points, Baker, a tbl-iixiant outshooter, carried the scoring load for Lacona and if she had shot more Lacona might have pulled it out of the fire. The last half was all Blakesburg as with their., height .advantage they controlled ,both boards and when they needed more than one ,shot were able-to get it. , g The backcourt trio, meanwhile, was holding Bondurant to only one shot, then -grabbing all re- bounds. After an average season, the desire to win grew very strong. To top our sectional, we won over Hartford, Runnells, and Carlisle. In district play at Charlton, we beat Lacona and Lovilia. We finally met our match with the Q1-1s from Blakesburg, who had a tive-inch height advantage over us. flu state tournament play, Blakesburg ended their season as the Con- solation Runner-up,l With a season's record of 14-10, a first place sectional tourna- ment trophy, a.nd the runner-up trophy in the district, we feel we have had a successful season.

Lee VonStein-293 points Our boy's team started off to a flying start. The five starters were tabbed The Iron Men by the Des Moines Register. They won eight games un- til they dropped a one point decision to Saydel. On they went past four more teams, until the county toumaments when Ankeny won by a nose-2 points. Mingo and Altoona also by-passed the boys by close margins. Their last game was with Mingo in the sectional tournament. The Blue Jays went down in defeat 58 -54. This finished a successful season with a 17-5 record. Total Points: BHS 1315, Opponents 953: Of- fensive Average of 62.6 per game and Defensive Average of 45.3 per game. ACTION SNAPS .
