FAC U LTY The Bolton Faculty has often been referred to as a group of individualists. And that is the way we like them to be. It is so much more interesting and inspiring to be taught by that type of person. But some of us, probably, going blindly on our way, have failed to see their human side or know them outside the classroom. For instance, we all appreciate what Mr. Brame means to the smooth running of the school and to each of us individually, but did you know that next year will be his 4Oth at Bolton, that he is one of the best known educators in the South, an outstanding member of the College Commission of the South- ern Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges, that he has created the most perfect set of school records in Louisiana, that he is one of the most progressive of school men, that he is in the Chamber of Commerce, on the Library Board and a member of the Kiwanis Club? - Did you know that besides being about the wittiest and cleverest person you've come in contact with, Mrs. Peters wrote one of the text books you use in English classes, that she is probably the most widely known and respected English teacher in Louisiana, that she takes an active part in at least a dozen clubs and organizations in town and in the state, that she has two sons overseas? Did you know that Miss Thornton is kin to George Washington, that besides spon- soring three clubs, being Dean of Girls and handling the big job of stamps and bond sales, she somehow finds time and energy to direct Harmony Hangout, to serve on the Library Board and be state president of the Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary fraternity of out- standing teachers, that she is a frequent contributor to numerous magazines and journals? Did you know that Mr. Smith is an ardent farmer when he gets away from school, that he is an artist and drew the sketch of the L. S. U. Tiger which is still being used? Z Did you know that Miss Kilpatrick, Mi s Pegues and Miss Morgan all point and that Miss Morgan has a studio of her own, that Mr. Hawkins made the orchitect's drawing for the planned new addition to the Episcopal Clffurch, that Miss Kilpatrick is an enthusiastic collector of stamps, old coins, and antique glass? Did you know that Mrs. Longmire, Bruin Sponsor until this year, has taught 30 years and plans to retire at the end of this semester? This is just a beginning and we might go on and on if space permitted, but this proves our point that the faculty is made up not only of people who have had fine schol- astic and professional preparation for their work but are interesting individuals with wide and varied interests outside the classroom. No wonder life at Bolton is so varied and challenging. We ore proud to have the opportunity to be in the classes of these individ- ualists.
